The firm was known f its Beaux-Arts style in public buildings. Rankin &amp; Kellogg were often the recipients of large-scale public and commercial commissions. &#13;

In 1893 they participated in the competition for the New York City Hall and received second prize, losing to McKim, Mead &amp; White.&#13;
&#13;
In 1903 the firm name was changed to Rankin, Kellogg &amp; Crane with the addition of Edward A. Crane to the firm, he left in 1925 and the name returned to its original. &#13;
&#13;
In 1943 a successor firm Rankin, Kellogg &amp; Doe was formed to recognizing the inputs of Lester Adrian Doe. </text>
